Besides being perfectly located within 100 miles of some of the Southwest's premier museums, Nocona, and surrounding Montague County, has become an important trail to cultural and creative enlightenment.
Nocona is home to the newly created Texas Trails Art Gallery. A variety of art from paintings to sculpture by area artists is on display year round.
Located on three acres along Highway 82, the new Tales and Trails Museum is under construction.
The museum's focus is on the history of Northern Montague County. Exhibits include the era of Native American settlement and trade, early immigration, trail drives, ranching and farming, historic landscape, oil, transportation and the leather industry.
When all phases are complete, the museum will house permanent exhibition space and interactive exhibit galleries, a regional tourist center and research library.
The Museum Gift Shop will offer unique arts and crafts by area artisans, souvenirs and fine leather goods created in Nocona. There will also be classes, lectures, special seasonal events and touring exhibits.
